I guess I thought there would be a more polished solution out there and looking around these sites doesn't create any confidence that the service will be around and continue working. (If you didn't know, Karaoke Locker brand's it's songs as "Karaoke Channel", but the company is actually "Venue VJ", which get's it's songs from Stingray, which licenses it's songs from Sound Choice. Note this is not Stingray doing this, but Sound Choice. Now, they're saying "you can't do that" and are going around suing all their loyal customers.
They originally licensed their songs to Stingray for digital downloads, but did not specify clearly that they were not allowed for use in public venues. Sound Choice is suing everybody left and right for using them. WARNING: The songs in this store are unfortunately NOT licensed for public performance. jKams provides this ominous warning on their website:

Tricerasoft: Appears to have a subscription based service where you enter a Streaming ID into the kjams software to access their database of songs. Chartbuster: Chartbuster seems to have been recently acquired by DigiTrax who seems to be re-working the product into a web based app called KaraokeCloud.Ģ. JKams seems to support the following three Music Stores, but the more I look into them the more alarming this type of setup seems:ġ. The client will still need to purchase songs or a subscription to a streaming service to get the content. For example, one could create a CFDictionaryRef Core Foundation type, and then later simply use a standard C cast to convert it to its Objective-C counterpart, NSDictionary *, and then use the desired Objective-C methods on that object as one normally would.Ĭore Foundation has a plug-in model ( CFPlugin) that is based on the Microsoft Component Object Model.I spent some more time looking at kJams and it looks like it will work as the karaoke player software.
Some types in Core Foundation are "toll-free bridged", or interchangeable with a simple cast, with those of their Foundation Kit counterparts. Other parts of the API include utility routines and wrappers around existing APIs for ease of use. At the operating system level Core Foundation also provides standardized application preferences management through CFPropertyList, bundle handling, run loops, interprocess communication through CFMachPort and CFNotificationCenter, and a basic graphical user interface message dialog through CFUserNotification. The most prevalent use of Core Foundation is for passing its own primitive types for data, including raw bytes, Unicode strings, numbers, calendar dates, and UUIDs, as well as collections such as arrays, sets, and dictionaries, to numerous macOS C routines, primarily those that are GUI-related.
